Former vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), journalist Ion Terguță said the Democratic Party already started its election campaign based on a strategy. According to him, the ideal scenario for the PDM is for the snap parliamentary elections and local elections to be held simultaneously. The issue was developed in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.

“It is a repeat of the scenario of February 24, when the peopled didn’t understand what they vote for. But a new factor will appear now, which is much more powerful than in the parliamentary elections – the mayoral elections. And those 700 mayors controlled by the PDM will not work only for them, but also for the Democratic Party,” stated the journalist.

Public policy expect Ștefan Gligor said the PDM makes effort to secure its assets and to strengthen its political control. If the scenario of an informal coalition between the PSRM and the PDM had been viable, this would have been implemented. The Party of Socialists has no other way out and will have to  start real discussions with the Bloc ACUM.

Vlad Kulminski, executive director of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives, said the negotiations between the Bloc ACUM and the PSRM have no chance of ending successfully. “I no longer believe in the scenario according to which they will reach a compromise,” he stated.

According to Vlad Kulminski, the Bloc ACUM has a very intelligent negotiation strategy, but the tactic is mistaken. “What they could do together is to change the electoral system as, if the current mixed system is maintained, the chances of the Bloc ACUM and of the Socialists in snap elections will be slim,” he noted.
