The Party of Development and Union of Moldova (PDCM) promises schools in all the settlements of the Republic of Moldova. In a meeting with inhabitants of Tvardița village of Taraclia district, the party’s president, ex-Premier Ion Chicu said previous governments’ plans to close small schools are not efficient and mistaken and a lot of children suffered as a result of them, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the PDCM.

“No settlement in the Republic of Moldova should remain without a school. Even the smallest village should have at least a primary school with the first-fourth grades and the upper grades should be restored gradually,” stated Ion Chicu.

The leader of the PDCM noted that the state should ensure each child’s access to education no matter how small the settlement in which they live is. “We will plead for creating equal conditions and possibilities of access to education for children of all the nationalities living in the Republic of Moldova.” Ion Chicu underlined that the shortage of staff can be solved by increasing salaries and by providing the teachers with dwellings.

Among the subjects raised in the meeting in Tvardița were the relations with the partner states and ensuring of agricultural products’ access to markets. Ion Chicu said the party he leads pleads for maintaining good relations with all the states and for identifying cooperation opportunities.

“Everyone understands that we cannot ensure economic growth if do not have access to markets. The countries struggle for markets and it would be a huge mistake to lose such markets as Kazakhstan, Russia and China. We must have good relations with everyone. We should definitely maintain good relations also with the European Union member states,” noted Ion Chicu.
