The president of the Democratic Party of Moldova Pavel Filip said the discussions launched by Maia Sandu with the parliamentary groups were an obligation related to the dissolution of Parliament that was to be fulfilled so that they could later say that the parliamentary groups were consulted. The Democratic Party remains consistent and considers that during the pandemic there is no time to speak about something else than about the people, IPN reports.

Pavel Filip said he proposed President Sandu to stop the political struggle between two political players and to abandon for a period the idea of triggering snap elections by dissolving Parliament.

The Democrats advised Maia Sandu to immediately open discussions with the parliamentary groups for installing a government that would handle the current crisis in accordance with the plan proposed by the Democratic Party and to later think how to induce snap parliamentary elections.

President Maia Sandu scheduled consultations with the parliamentary groups for March 26 in accordance with Article 85, par. (1) of the Constitution, which provides that if the Government cannot be formed or the procedure for adopting laws is blocked during three months, the President of the Republic of Moldova, after consultations with the parliamentary groups, can dissolve Parliament.
