The previous government coalition between ACUM and the PSRM changed the coalition formation paradigms in Moldova. “We might one day reach the situation when we will not center on perceptions and will assess things justly,” the Democratic leader Pavel Filip stated in a video interview for IPN. He noted it is too early to speak about a PDM-PSRM coalition.

“It should be a struggle, a coalition of ideas, while the agreements should be based on concrete things. An agreement is based on things that should be put into practice and, if there are coincidences, things go on. If there are no coincidences, the cooperation agreement should be modified,” stated Pavel Filip.

He considers the snap elections would not radically change the structure of the political spectrum and these would be the worst scenario for Moldova. “Given that the people voted for political parties or politicians, it is the responsibility of politicians to find solutions and not to allow the voters to judge again.”

In another development, Pavel Filip said the recently adopted budget is rather balanced and the budgetary-fiscal policy is also ok, except for some nuances. The meal vouchers should be restored. Also, the Chicu Government should continue the infrastructure projects and should initiate new one, with emphasis on local and national roads. The restoration of the financial assistance for those with low incomes and the indexation of pensions twice a year are welcome.

The interview “PDM president Pavel Filip’s view about the state of affairs in Moldovan society at the intersection of years” forms part of the series “Crossroads of years through the angle of the ideal of living better at home” that also involve President Igor Dodon and Prime Minister Ion Chicu and the leaders of the main parliamentary parties Andrei Năstase and Maia Sandu.
