The Employers’ Association of Road Transport Operators (APOTA) said it decided to halt its protest after hearing from parliamentarians that they are ready to consider proposals for amendments to the Road Transport Code.

According to APOTA, the message indicates that the carriers’ proposals will be heard in Parliament, after which the next steps will be announced.

Road safety, environmental protection, free and universal access to transport services, no excess or shortage of rides, among others, need to be the principles for the new legislation to be adopted by Parliament, says the employers' association.

Meanwhile, MP Radu Marian, chair of the Economy Commission, said he spoke today with Speaker Igor Grosu, and together they reconfirm full support for the road transport reforms adopted last year. In his opinion, the adopted measures will make public transport more accessible and safer.
