The MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), Dumitru Alaiba and Dan Perciun, formulated a legislative proposal that is aimed at making Moldova an attractive destination for pensioners from other states. According to the proposal, the right to stay temporarily can be given or extended to foreigners who are socially insured in states with which the Republic of Moldova signed cooperation agreements in the social sphere, if a number of conditions are met, IPN reports.

A condition is for the applicant for the temporary right to stay to have sufficient revenues for living in the Republic of Moldova, without needing financial support. The person must also have the right of ownership or another possession and use right over a dwelling for a period that will not be shorter than the period for which the foreigner asks for the provision or extension of the right to stay.

In this connection, Dan Perciun said Moldova could become an attractive destination for retirees from other states. A modest pension in Italy can ensure more than comfortable life after retirement in Moldova.

MP Dumitru Alaiba added that many countries offer permits of stay to retired persons. The benefits for the host country are evident, but Moldova does not have such an offer.
