PAS MP Sergiu Litivinenco said the PSRM-Shor statement on the usurpation of power by the Constitutional Court and the giving of a vote of no confidence to three judges of the High Court does not have legal force. In a news conference given after the PAS MPs left the Parliament sitting, Sergiu Litivinenco explained that the law specifies how a CC judge can be dismissed. “This is a statement promoted in despair. The Constitutional Court abided by the Constitution. It passed an exclusively juridical decision and didn’t become involved in political games. The Court acted constitutionally correctly. That judgment was the only correct decision it could pass, according to the constitutional provisions. These persons are desperate and resort to desperate gestures that do not have any legal effects,” IPN quoted the MP as saying.

The acting president of the Party of Action and Solidarity Igor Grosu said the PAS MPs boycotted the sitting in protest at another toxic, populist initiative of the
PSRM-Shor alliance, which represents an attack on the CC. It is one more proof that the PSRM-Shor alliance does not want snap elections. It wants to conserve the situation in which the country is now and from which only the representatives of these two political forces benefit. “We will not take part in these actions that are detrimental to democracy and to people’s expectations. We will continue to fulfill the commitments made in the election campaign and will do our best for the citizens to be able to go to snap parliamentary elections and rid the country of a toxic Parliament,” stated Igor Grosu.

Before the Parliament sitting, Socialist MP Vasile Bolea said the Socialists will propose for adoption a statement on the usurpation of power by the Constitutional Court and the giving of a vote of no confidence to the three CC judges who decided that there are circumstances for dissolving Parliament. In a post on Facebook, the Socialist leader Igor Dodon wrote that in today’s meeting of the Socialist parliamentary group, it was decided that the CC judgment on the dissolution of Parliament will not be challenged as they consider the snap parliamentary elections should be held this year, but only after the general immunization of the population.
