The parental leave could be used in parts of at least five days calendar days during 12 months of the birth of the child, says a legislative proposal presented by the PAS parliamentary group on the occasion of International Day of Families that is celebrated on May 15, IPN reports.
The same initiative modifies the method of calculating the maternity allowance and child benefit when the parent does not have the contributory period of 12 months for being paid the benefit as this is under leave for looking after another child. These parents will now have more benefit setting options.
According to PAS MP Dan Perciun, the legislative proposal supports the families in Moldova and encourages the Moldovans to give birth to more children and to easier combine work and family life. The families that adopt children will be entitled to more types of social leave.
PAS MP Marina Morozova said the adoptive parents will be entitled to partially paid leave for the entrusting period that will last for 60 to 90 days and to fully paid leave for a period of 90 days of the adoption day, regardless of the child’s age. Adoption is introduced as an insured risk for the National House of Social Insurance that is obliged to pay all the social benefits.
