The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) obtained the largest number of seats of mayors as a result of the November 5 local elections – 225. The Party of Socialists (PSRM) ranked second with 99 elected mayors, shows an analysis by the Association for Participatory Democracy “ADEPT”, which was published on alegeri.md, IPN reports.

For the runoff vote, the PAS has promoted candidates in another 152 localities, while the PSRM has 74 candidates.

The independent candidates in the first round of voting won 83 posts of mayor, while 57 independent candidates will contend in the runoffs.

The European Social Democrat Party (ex-PDM) ranked fourth with 73 mayors elected in the first round. In the runoffs, the party has 61 candidates.

The mayoral runoffs will be held in November 19 in 273 localities. In six constituencies where the voter turnout was lower than the threshold, the elections will be rerun. In another two localities where mayoral elections didn’t take place, partial elections will be held next March.

In the other 617 localities, the mayors were elected by the first round of voting with over half of the valid votes cast.
