The pay raises and lump sums announced by the Government as part of the program “Bonus for Moldova” are designed to help the citizens to cope with the high prices and charges, said MP of the ruling Party of Action and Solidary Ina Coșeru. She noted that over 170,000 citizens from different professional categories will benefit from state support. For his part, unaffiliated MP Vasile Bolea accused the government of populism and described the announced measures as electoral alms, IPN reports.
Under the salary measures package “Bonus for Moldova”, a series of professional categories will benefit from state support. The teaching and scientific staff of all educational institutions will get a lump sum of 5,000 lei. Over 35,000 non-teaching staff will receive a one-off payment of 3,000 lei. Over 10,000 employees of the Ministry of the Interior - police officers, border guards and carabineers - will get by 5,000 lei in lump sums. The salaries of doctors, medical assistants and nurses will be raised by 15%.
“It goes to the budget amendments we announced earlier. Next week, the Cabinet will present this bill to Parliament to be considered in the first reading. It refers to assistance for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The value of the program is of 1.3 billion lei. The money will be distributed to different categories of people – 170,000 citizens will benefit from such support. The measure is a justified one as last year we spoke about an inflation rate of 34% caused by the war in Ukraine. We realized that as the prices and charges rise, we should also raise the salaries. This year the situation is different. The inflation rate is of 10% and we will therefore increase the salaries of different categories of people. The pays of all the employees of the health system will be raised by 15%,”Ina Coșeru stated in program “Freedom Territory”.
Unaffiliated MP Vasile Bolea wondered why the offering of state support coincides with the campaign prior to the local general elections. He said the government this way tries to gain the people’s sympathy ahead of the November 5 elections.
“After the government announced that this money rain will fall over the citizens, those from the diaspora bought tickets and are coming home. If we leave irony aside, the salaries are raised by 15% only for doctors. Did they remember the doctors only now? This raise of 15% will be paid only until the end of this year. It goes to the budget amendment made now, in October, and the people will get the money in November. It is a strategy to give money to the people right before the local elections. But what did the government do until now? What is the purpose of these electoral alms intended for teachers and police officers? Did they remember them now? With a lump sum payment of 5,000 lei “, asked Vasile Bolea.
According to Prime Minister Dorin Recean, as part of the program “Bonus for Moldova”, 352 million lei will be allocated for covering the electricity and heating costs of schools, kindergartens, hospitals and other budget-funded institutions.
