PAS MP Dumitru Alaiba said the leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon is involved in the privatization of Codru Hotel. According to him, there was no letter signed by Igor Dodon concerning Codru Hotel, as Igor Dodon maintained in 2015, when he stated that he tried to stop the privatization of the hotel by sending a letter to the then President Vladimir Voronin.

In a news conference, the MP said Igor Dodon did nothing to stop the privatization of the hotel in favor of Vladimir Plahotniuc at a derisory price. There are many questions here, especially why Codru Hotel was privatized at a price that was five times lower than the market one. “Since then, during six years, I’ve tried to find this letter. Dodon promised to publish it, but didn’t do it. The letter cannot be found,” said the MP, being quoted by IPN.

Dumitru Alaiba said he made multiple approaches as an NGO member and later as an MP. He even sued the Ministry of Economy for refusing access to this information. “I ultimately obtained a clear response from a state institution. There was no letter. In other words, Dodon lied and the truth comes out only now. Dodon didn’t struggle to promote the interests of the state while Plahotniuc was appropriating state assets. Dodon played in a team with Plahotniuc,” said the MP, making reference to the response received from the Public Property Agency, which says that there was no letter from Igor Dodon to Vladimir Voronin as to the stopping of the privatization of Codru Hotel.

“It is for the first time that an institution provides a clear response on this subject, and this is also definitive. We should not doubt the credibility of this information. In point of fact, the PPA continues to be managed by Gennady Țepordei, former lawyer for Dodon, who was named to the post by Dodon’s government. Gennady Țepordei signed this response,” stated Dumitru Alaiba.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, spokeswoman for Igor Dodon, Carmena Sterpu, didn’t answer the phone. By the time the news item was published, Igor Dodon also didn’t come with a reaction.
