The leader of the parliamentary group of the Party of Action and Solidary Igor Grosu said that in the consultations with President Maia Sandu, he informed that in virtue of the events that happened in Parliament yesterday, three are circumstances for dissolving the legislature, IPN reports.

After the discussions with Maia Sandu, Igor Grosu said that they noted the snap parliamentary elections should be held in accordance with the legal time limits. This will also depend on the Constitutional Court’s response and when it is provided. The snap elections should be held in summer, as epidemiologists recommend.

According to the MP, the management of the pandemic crisis remains the top priority and all the institutions should fulfill their duties.

The MP called on all the political forces to refrain from exerting pressure and to leave the institutions to do their job. Igor Grosu said that populist bills are now promoted in Parliament and sterile debates that have nothing to do with people’s interest are held there. He urged his mates from Parliament to support the necessary laws that will be proposed by the outgoing Government.

A quorum at the March 25 sitting of Parliament was not present and the government program and the Cabinet proposed by candidate for Prime Minister Igor Grosu could not be considered. This was the second attempt to vote in a Government with full powers, after the first attempt of February 11 also failed.

President Maia Sandu on March 26 invited the parliamentary groups to consultations in accordance with Article 85, par. (1) of the Constitution, which provides that if the Government cannot be formed or the procedure for adopting laws is blocked during three months, the President of the Republic of Moldova, after consultations with the parliamentary groups, can dissolve Parliament.
