The PAS councilors on the Chisinau Municipal Council suggest increasing the compensation for energy resources from 40% to 60% of the bill. A draft decision to this effect is to be submitted to the Council, IPN reports.
PAS councilor Dumitru Ivanov told a news conference that the families whose average incomes do not exceed 3,000 lei a month per person and the single persons with low incomes can apply for compensations.
“The implementation of the decision proposed by PAS, alongside the Government’s measures, will help to practically fully attenuate the negative impact of the rise in prices on the international market,” stated Dumitru Ivanov.
The Government approved direct bill deductions during the cold season for all household users in a move to offset the recent surge in gas rates. Specifically, in the bill for November, households will pay 6.8 lei for a cubic meter for a consumption of up to 50 cubic meters, with the Government to cover the remainder of 4.3 lei/m3. For the consumption range 50-150 m3, the rate for households will be 7.9 lei/m3 and the government-subsidized deduction 3.2 lei/m3. Additionally, direct bill deductions will be offered for heating for 222,000 beneficiaries in Chisinau and Bălți. Subsidies will cover two-thirds of the rise in the cost of the first gigacalorie, but no more than 450 lei a month.
