MPs of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) said the Government cannot ensure the observance of the basic human rights in the Transnistrian region. They referred to the case of Alexandru Rjavitin, who evaded after being conscripted into the Transnistrian paramilitary forces in August 2015, following serious abuses against him and violations of his rights, IPN reports.

The MPs noted they had a meeting with representatives of Promo-LEX Association and discussed this case with them. “In December 2019, Alexandru Rjavitin returned to Pervomaisc village in the Transnistrian region to see his family. At about 8pm on December 18, he disappeared from his home. It is alleged that he was kidnapped by the Transnistrian militia and is now held in the remand prison of the militia in Tiraspol,” MP Doina Gherman told a news conference.

According to the MPs, in the period the Government had no official reaction. The lack of transparency in this case is very worrisome. The MPs called on Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Alexandru Flenchea to intervene immediately and to take action to determine the whereabouts of Alexandru Rjavitin.

The PAS MPs demand to examine in detail this case and the phenomenon of forced conscription into the Transnistrian military bodies. They called upon Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo to say if this unordinary case is in the focus of the Prosecutor General’s Office and asked for a meeting with representatives of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, saying they wait for their official position.

MP Oazu Nantoi said the regime in the Transnistrian regime uses torture, blackmail and intimidation to eliminate any trace of opposition. “If you look at all the ECHR judgments in cases related to the violation of the basic human rights of the people from the left side of the Nistru, you can see that not only Russia, but also the Republic of Moldova is convicted,” he stated, adding Moldova distanced itself from this fundamental and priority issue – the observance of human rights.
