If parliamentary elections were held in Moldova next Sunday, 35% of the respondents would vote for the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), while 21% for the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists (BeCS). 3.6% of those questioned, which is under the election threshold, would vote for the Bloc “Renato Usatyi”, while 3.2% for the Shor Party. The other parties would gain between 0.7 and 1.7% of the vote, shows a poll carried out by CBS-Research and CIVIS Center whose results were presented in a news conference at IPN.
76.2% of those polled said they will go to the polls, 11.7% said they will probably go, 2.7% said they will probably not go, 6.5% are sure they will not go to the polls, while 2.4 % don’t know for sure, said Valeriu Pașa, the head of Watchdog.MD Community, which presented the poll results.
Over one third of those surveyed, 35%, consider that more than 191 polling stations should be established outside the country. 21.9% are for 191 polling stations, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposed, while 19.1% said 146 polling places are enough, as the Central Election Commission decided.
According to the poll, Maia Sandu is the most trusted political personality in Moldova. 27.3% of the respondents said they trust her. The Socialist leader Igor Dodon is trusted by 11.7% of those questioned, the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin by 2.3%, the president of the Shor Party Ilan Shor by 2%, while the mayor of Bălți Renato Usatîi, the leader of the Bloc “Renato Usatăi” by 1.9%.
62.4% of those surveyed consider the Moldovans who live in the Transnistrian region have the right to vote in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, while 26.9% believe the Moldovans there should not be allowed to vote.
Asked about the state of affairs in the country, 72% of those interviewed said things in Moldova go wrong, while 17.8% consider things go right.
The opinion poll was conducted during June 20-30, 2021 and covered a sample of 1,201 persons aged 18 and up, all being questioned face to face. The poll was financed by Watchdog.MD Community and the Institute for Public Policy in the framework of projects supported by the European Endowment for Democracy.
