Lawmaker Igor Dodon considers that the Party of Socialists that he intends to join after defecting from the PCRM will be the main center-left party on the political arena in the early legislative elections that may take place next March, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the program “Open Dialogue” produced by the portal privesc.eu, Igor Dodon said meetings with the voters, especially the young ones, are held in the country’s districts. “We will devote greater attention to the young people. Regretfully, the PCRM used the young members only for boycotting and revolts,” he stated. The MP expressed his conviction that the Party of Socialists will enter Parliament either after the early elections or the next ordinary elections. “I will try to create the group of the Party of Socialists in Parliament. The party now has over 20 district organizations, but their number will rise in the near future,” said Igor Dodon. He anticipated that the PCRM will poll less than 39% of the vote in the next elections. According to him, this party should remain in the opposition for a long time. As to the head of state, Igor Dodon said the future President must be an apolitical, but competent person. “Evidently, Zinaida Greceanyi is a competent person,” said the MP, adding a decision concerning a candidate for the presidency would be taken as a result of negotiations. Igor Dodon reiterated that he will not vote for Marian Lupu for the post of President. “I consider the present government must be re-formed and the re-formation may take place only if an apolitical person is elected President. If Voronin agrees with the alliance to vote for the AEI’s candidate, he can do it,” said the unaffiliated MP. Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuk left the Communist parliamentary group on November 4. Igor Dodon also defected from the PCRM. They argued they want to help bring the political crisis to an end, re-form the government and ensure political stability. Veronica Abramchuk had earlier held the post of co-chairwoman of the Party of Socialists, but entered then Parliament on the Communist ticket.
