The Party of Development and Unity of Moldova (PDCM) led by former Prime Minister Ion Chicu submitted the documents to the Central Election Commission for being registered as an election contender in the July 11 snap parliamentary elections, IPN reports.
Ion Chicu told the press that he came to the CEC with great thoughts and is proud of his team that assumed responsibility before the citizens and the country. It includes many intellectuals and professionals who proved that they care about the country and know to do things. Among these are doctors, teachers, economists and engineers who can definitely contribute to improving things.
The leader of the PDCM said they respected the gender criteria and the list of candidates includes 54 women and 47 men from all the country’s regions.
The ex-Premier noted they expect the election campaign will be fair and the elections will be democratic and each contender will be able to transmit messages, proposals so that the voters make an assumed and responsible choice. The citizens should be able to choose reasonably, not based on populist promises.
Six parties and two electoral blocs have been registered as election contenders so far. These are the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists, “Building Europe at Home” Party, the Common Action Civic Congress Party, the Electoral Bloc “Renato Usatîi”, the Party of Action and Solidarity and the Shor Party, the Professional Movement “Speranţa – Nadejda” (“Hope”) and the Democratic Party. The CEC is now examining the files of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, the National Unity Party and the Political Party “Democracy at Home”.
The candidates can filed applications to be registered until June 11, which is not later than 30 days until the election day.
