Opposition MPs Thursday criticized the mass privatizations recently started by the Government. The Communist parliamentarians called the criticism “hysterical statements,” Info-Prim Neo reports. Democratic Party (DP) leader Dumitru Diacov has stated the Communists Party (PCRM) used to speculate, for years, on the account of the privatizations operated by the democrats, and now the Government adopted the privatization plan on the eve of the elections. The PD asks the Cabinet to stop the process. “We cannot privatize now, in the conditions of financial crisis,” the PD leader said. Diacov has asked to invite Economy Minister Igor Dodon to inform the MPs how the Government plans to carry out this decision. The proposal has been backed by the Liberal-Democratic Party's leader Vlad Filat. He opined the ruling party resorts to the privatization of important companies in the end of its term “not to bring capital to national economy, but to get hold of those entities.” “The haste they are making the privatizations explains this goal,” Filat said, making reference to Air Moldova carrier, the Parliament's Canteen and Codru hotel. The National-Liberal leader Vitalia Pavlicenco says the PCRM is hurrying to privatize state-owned entities by the end of their mandate, because they are not certain they will rule after the elections. Pavlicenco has also asked the Government to halt the privatization: “You have not done so many things in this country to steal,” the parliamentarian addressed the Communists. The Communist Grigorie Petrenco has called those statements as “hysterical”. The Communist majority rejected the proposal to invite the Economy and Trade Minister.
