The acting Prosecutor General, National Bank governor and representatives of the National Anticorruption Center are to be questioned in Parliament on the conduct of the investigation into the bank frauds and the process of recovering the stolen money. The hearing will take place at the request of the Lib-Dems, the proposal being supported by most of the MPs attending the November 17 sitting, IPN reports.
Liberal-Democratic MP Iurie Tap said it is almost a year since the last hearing on the bank frauds was held and it’s time for the legislative body to return to this subject.
Socialist MP Vasile Bolea said two years passed since the famous epopee of the banking theft and the people must know what sum has been restored until now and what measures need to be taken further.
Liberal Party chairman Mihai Ghimpu said he supports the proposal of his Liberal-Democratic colleagues and asked that the invited functionaries should present the list of persons who got loans illegally so that the people know who took the money and didn’t repay the debts.
Communist leader Vladimir Voronin said hearings should be held and the list of loan recipients should be indeed presented so as to see where the fraud started from.
Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said the hearing will be held next week or in a week.
