Parliament today adopted an amendment allowing only public health care providers to perform organ transplantation, prohibiting such procedures in private hospitals.

The bill was drafted by MPs Dan Perciun, Adrian Belîi, Maria Pancu and Ana Oglinda, members of the Social Protection and Health Care Committee, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the National Transplantation Agency.

Also, the bill regulates a series of reproductive procedures, including the consent of beneficiaries, in vitro fertilization, preservation and cryopreservation of sex gametes, as well as their thawing, donation, transportation, including cross-border.

MP Dan Perciun said that, according to the Government’s proposal, the possibility of granting allowances for donors of reproductive cells was excluded. Thus, it was decided that they can receive remuneration, not from the state, but from those who request this procedure, through the health care institution where it is performed.
