The lawmakers examined the draft decision concerning the creation of a commission of inquiry into the situation on the currency market, but postponed voting on the issue until the next sitting. The draft decision was included in the agenda at the suggestion of the Socialists and with the vote of the PCRM and PL, IPN reports.

The commission will have nine members – by two MPs of the PSRM, PCRM, PLDM and PDM and a Liberal MP. The commission will formulate its conclusions within 15 calendar days.

The Socialists will be represented by Vladimir Golovatiuc and Igor Dodon on the commission, the Democrats by Marcel Raducan and Sergiu Sarbu, the Communists by Oleg Reidman and Anatolie Zagorodnyi, the Lib-Dems by Stefan Creanga and Chiril Lucinschi, while the Liberals by Iurie Chirinciuc.

The necessity of examining the situation on the currency market appeared after the national currency started to significantly depreciate against the main foreign currencies. According to experts, the taking of about one billion euros by illegal transactions between Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and Unibank out of the country contributed to the created situation. The National Anticorruption Center and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office started a number of criminal cases over the provision of bad loans by these banks.
