The Parliament’s Statement that will be adopted after the special sitting centering on the situation in Transnistria will be a political one and will be an example for other responsible institutions to follow, believes expert in the Transnistrian issue Eduard Tugui. Contacted by IPN, the analyst said the statement must be common and must refer to the stabilization of the situation in the Transnistrian region.

“A Parliament Statement is a political one that cannot contain a plan of action, but it can direct certain state institutions so that they do their job. A statement can set out certain tasks, actions,” said the analyst.

Eduard Tugui also said that these provocations of the Transnistrian administration are not apocalyptical. They are similar to those that we witnessed during 20 years and will continue to witness until the Vilnius Summit and after it. “We go through a period of internal and external transformations that find reflection in the behavior of the authorities of the unrecognized republic,” underlined the expert.

According to him, these challenges cannot cause an armed conflict. “The situation is not similar to the one that existed 21 years ago. I’m convinced that the people realized the quality of the negotiations and the essence of the problem. I do not see many volunteers who would want to take the gun and fight for an unrecognized regime,” said Eduard Tugui.

Ne considers that by itself Tiraspol cannot delimit a so-called border in the Security Zone, without Russia’s consent.

On June 20, Parliament held hearings on the situation in the Transnistrian region. On June 21, the MPs are to adopt a joint statement.

On June 10, the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk signed a so-called legal act on the region’s border. The border includes the Moldovan-administered Bender town, Varnita and two more villages.
