The legislative body ratified the agreement under which the EBRD will provide €15.4 million in grant funding for building a new interconnection between the Republic of Moldova and Romania. It goes to the construction of the 400 kV overhead power line that will interconnect the municipality of Balti and the municipality of Suceava, IPN reports.
The project to build the power line, which has a length of 58 kilometers on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, will be implemented by "Moldelectrica". Currently, the enterprise is in the process of drafting the documents for launching the tender contest for the design and execution of construction works.
In addition, the project provides for the reconstruction and modernization of the switching equipment in the electrical substations, as well as the replacement of transformers and autotransformers.
The EBRD grant covers 20% of the total value of the project, which amounts to €77 million. €30.8 million or 40% is provided as a loan by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The same amount was reallocated by the European Investment Bank.
