The Parliament on Friday, February 29, approved the proposal of the Government to liquidate the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure, despite strong criticism from the Opposition.
Oleg Rotaru, deputy head of the Government’s Office, said the goal of the proposal was to maximise the efficiency of elaborating and implementing policies in the areas of industry and energy with a view to developing the national economy. According to him, these changes will help the Government optimise the number of specialised central bodies, exclude the doubling of competences between them and improve the management of the respective sectors.
The Opposition, however, criticised the Government for not managing to carry out properly the reform of the central authorities and urged it to propose systemic changes and not “the dissolution of a minister and the establishment of another one, as it happened”.
At present, the Government of Moldova is formed of 17 ministries.
