Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc had to declare the Parliament's meeting on Friday adjourned as it got out of control after the Alliance and the Communists clashed over MP Grigore Petrenco's refusal to leave the assembly hall as decided by a majority vote.
The Liberal-Democrats proposed Communist Petrenco's exclusion after he made offensive remarks against the Alliance during debates on a bill. After a half-hour break requested by the Communists, they announced on return that Petrenco “won't leave and won't apologize”.
Lib-Dem group leader Valeriu Strelet then proposed to ban Petrenco for 5 meetings of Parliament. “If he doesn't obey rules, we must impose another sanction on him. His disrespect for law is absolutely obvious. Totalitarian behaviors have always been a common trait of the Communists”, declared Valeriu Strelet.
Liberal Victor Popa agreed that Petrenco should be further penalized for the failure to comply with a majority vote decision. “The Communist group behaves like rednecks and uncivilized people. If (Petrenco) does not comply, we should impose a tougher sanction on him, like a ban on 10 meetings”, suggested Victor Popa.
After a further exchange of malicious remarks and allegations, Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc announced the meeting closed.
