The legislative body made slight progress in the January 22 sitting, even if with great difficulty, as the commission for electing the Head of Parliament was constituted, said invitees to the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel “Moldova 1”, IPN reports.

Sergiu Ostaf, director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO), expressed his optimism about the formation of a government coalition by the three pro-European parties. “We witnessed slight progress in Parliament. The fact that the Lib-Dems asked for a break shows that the negotiations will yet continue. The Speaker may be elected with the support of the Communists, but the Government, which could be formed next week, is to be voted in with the assistance of the Liberals,” he stated.

Speaking about the Ministry of Transport, which became a bone of contention between the Liberals and the Democrats, Ostaf said it would be opportune for the leaders of the two parties to put forward concrete candidates for the post of minister of transport and to ultimately appoint the best candidate. As to the Liberals’ condition that a person from abroad should be named prosecutor general, Ostaf noted that this is unrealistic as the Constitution must be amended for the purpose.

The head of the Association “Justice and Fairness” Ion Dron believes that if a coalition is formed by the PDM, PLDM and PCRM, the PLDM would disappear and, as a result, an agreement would be reached with the PSRM and the left government would be strengthened. The leaders of the three pro-Europeans parties are businessmen who manage the state depending on their economic interests.

“I thought that during two months they discussed the reforms in healthcare and justice, how to implement the Association Agreement with the EU and how to solve the country’s acute problems. But they went out before the video cameras to read 3-4 rows from a sheet of paper about how they cannot divide three seats between them,” stated the jurist.
