An exhibition entitled “Borders” that centers on the April 7, 2009 events was mounted in the Parliament Building. Things saved from fire during those events – a microphone, a red carpet, office phones, audio and video installations and a flag – were exhibited for the first time. The exhibits also include saved documents that were damaged by fire. The documents belong to the Parliament’s Archive, IPN reports.
During the April 7, 2009 events, a significant part of the documents collection of the Parliament’s Archive burned. There were destroyed about 3,000 files that contained information covering the period between 1946 and 2009. It goes to handwritten reports of the Parliament’s plenary sittings, adopted documents and decisions by the Standing Bureau, minutes of parliamentary commissions’ meetings, personal files of MPs, etc.
The exhibition contains a series of pictures showing the April 7, 2009 event and also works made by multimedia artist Valeria Barbas. The painter, who is also the curator of the exhibition, made the works during two decades, drawing her inspiration from different sociopolitical events.
“The exhibition project “Borders” shows in retrospect crucial events that marked and shook the Republic of Moldova during the 30 years of independence, focusing on the events of April 7, 2009,” stated Valeria Barbas.
The exhibition that symbolically marks 14 years of the April 7, 2009 can be visited in the Parliament Building until April 10. Later, the exhibits will be transferred to the National Museum of History of Moldova.
