The Democratic Action Party (PAD) drafted a bill that envisions creating the Ministry for Relations with the Diaspora and Reintegration of Migrants, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on Wednesday, the party’s deputy chairman Corneliu Gurin said that this ministry will be responsible for involving the young people who returned home from abroad into different socioeconomic activities in Moldova. “This public institution would include several departments: for cooperation with the diaspora and its organizations, for the protection of migrants and the socioeconomic reintegration of those who returned home,” he stated. The institution of the given authority is one of the ten commitments made by the AEI leaders to the PAD in the process of electing the head of state. “I think there are no families in Moldova that do not have at least one member working abroad. These people earn by themselves what the state cannot offer them. Though there are a number of central institutions that are empowered to deal with the organizations of the diaspora and the reintegration of the migrants who return home, no permanent and efficient work is done in this respect,” said Corneliu Gurin He also said that the new ministry would take over some of the duties of the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, the Ministry of Economy and other institutions. Thus, there will be an institution that would be responsible for the situation of those who come back home. According to the authors of the bill, statistics show that about 300,000 Moldovans worked abroad in 2011.
