PACE starts election campaign, team brings coffin to event

The Party “Building Europe at Home” (PACE) officially launched its election campaign, choosing Zăicana village of Criuleni district as a venue for the launch. The PACE team staged a funeral near a deserted house. A girl dressed in a national costume was helped to get out of the coffin. She put a flower circlet on the head and then recited a poem, being finally applauded by the members of the team, IPN reports.

In a speech given later, PACE leader Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, ex-deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate, said that if the party enters Parliament, it will promote bills to raise the minimum salaries to 10,000 lei for police officers and to provide dwellings to them. It will initiate a program to help the Moldovans aboard return home, will implement electronic voting for those from the diaspora and business support programs.

Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said the average age of the party’s candidates for MP is 35 and the candidates include economists, doctors, businessmen and teachers.

PACE member Xenia Olari said PACE drafted 100 bills and decisions and established relations with thousands of investors. She spoke about the projects promoted by Gheorghe Cavcaliuc when he worked for the General Police Inspectorate, mentioning “Caring Grandparents”, “Neighborhood Security”, and “A Toy for a Child’s Smile”.

PACE distributed tens of thousands of masks, planted over 4,000 trees on a territory, offered Christmas gifs to 1,000 children and distributed prostheses to women with breast cancer.

PACE vice president Alexei Sivuni said that 19,000 persons joined the party that has 24 local organizations in Moldova and 11 outside the country.
