About 50% of the respondents questioned by the Barometer of Public Opinion, who are willing to vote, said they would elect the candidates of the Party of Communists for the local councillor offices. The Barometer was launched on Monday, May 12, in Chisinau. For the communist candidates running for local councils would vote 50% of respondents, and over 51% - for those running for the offices of raion councillors. The Party of the Communists is followed by the People’s Christian Democrat Party, which would accumulate about 10% in the local/municipal councils and 12% in the raion councils. About 10.7% would vote for “Moldova Noastra” Alliance. The following parties are the Social Democrat Party, Democrat Party, Social Liberal Party etc. Over 52% of respondents did not decide or did not answer yet for whom they would vote in the elections that will be held on June 3. The results of BOP also show that Veaceslav Iordan, the candidate of behalf of the Party of Communists would be voted by 34.2% of the respondents. He is followed by Dorin Chirtoaca with 24%, Vladmir Filat – almost 9%, Dumitru Braghis – 8.4%, Alexandru Corduneanu – 6.7%, Leonid Bujor and Eduard Musuc – over 5%. The rest of the candidates, according to the Barometer, would accumulate less than 3%. 61% did no express a vote option. According to the organisers, due to the small number of participants (254) in the opinion poll for the election of the Chisinau Mayor the sampling error is about 8%. BOP was conducted by the Institute of Public Policies from May 3 to May 14 on a sample of 1100 persons in 76 localities.
