Over 800 doctors participate in National Congress of Internal Medicine in Chisinau

More than 800 medical professionals participate in the IV National Congress of Internal Medicine staged in Chisinau by the Society of Internists of the Republic of Moldova, jointly with “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. University professor and president of the Society of Internists of Moldova Liliana Groppa has told IPN that the event is meant to promote an integral approach that meets the complex needs of patients through cooperation between specialists.

Liliana Groppa, doctor habilitate in medical sciences, said that diseases of internal organs, including cardiovascular, rheumatic, renal, hepatic, respiratory, endocrine diseases, are challenges for health systems worldwide. The congress will explore how these diseases influence society and discuss innovative prevention, diagnosis and treatment strategies. This year’s edition is entitled “Improving Clinical Practice through Innovation and Cooperation”, highlighting the importance of embracing new technologies and an interdisciplinary approach in patient care.

The congress also has an important significance for the cooperation with Romania. Specialists from Iasi, Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj came to Chisinau Liliana Groppa noted that it is important to apply the same standards and methods of diagnosis and treatment of patients.

University professor Cătălina Arsenescu Georgescu, of “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Iasi, cardiologist and internist, said that the training of a young person cannot be complete if this does not start from internal medicine. “I’m a person who is glad that I had the opportunity to see all the dynamics of medicine because we moved from a classical medicine to a modern medicine. Modern medicine means explorationist medicine. Young people are attracted to this and it is normal to be so, but young people must equally know that they cannot be a complete doctor if they do not start from integrative medicine as internal medicine is integrative medicine,” stressed the university professor.

Cătălina Arsenescu Georgescu noted the participation of a number of young people in the congress, doctors of all specialties.  All the new things that are debated at the event ensure the exchange of information between doctors of different generations, in order to learn from each other, but also to present the latest news, so that all these novelties, modern strategies are adapted to the typologies of patients.

Pediatrician Stela Kulchitskaya, associate professor of Pulmonology and Allergology at “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that she participates in the congress to explore the novelties in internal medicine which, according to her, includes all areas of medicine. She chose the discussion panel that centers on the latest developments in the conduct of patients with cardiovascular diseases, specifying that the latest diagnostic and treatment practices for diseases were presented.

For two days, on September 13 and 14, the event will be attended by guests of honor from abroad, internationally recognized experts from Romania, Ukraine, the United States, France, the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, who will hold lectures on recent innovations in the field of internal medicine. The congress’ program includes scientific sessions, presentations of complex clinical cases and symposia dedicated to the most important areas of the specialty.
