More than 6,500 persons have enrolled to attend free Romanian language courses that are staged with physical presence and online in a number of regions of the Republic of Moldova as part of the national program for 2023-2025, IPN reports.
“The Ministry this year launched the national program to study the Romanian language and we are very glad that we have over 6,500 citizens who expressed interest in studying Romanian and have been engaged in the program,” Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun stated in a news conference.
According to the official, about 10 million lei was identified and earmarked for financing the national program to study the Romanian language.
“We believe it is very important to offer opportunities to other language speakers, to those who today do not speak Romanian, to study it and we are glad that we managed to identify about 10 million lei this year for financing a national program to study the Romanian language, which I think is the best homage rendered to the language,” said Dan Perciun.
Romanian language courses organized by the Ministry of Education and Research started to be taught in a number of localities of Moldova in July, simultaneously at 45 educational institutions in Balti, Chisinau, ATU Gagauzia, and Taraclia. Approximately 2,500 persons are attending the courses at the first stage, between July 3 and September 17, 2023. The second stage that is expected to involve about 4,000 persons will take place during September 25 – December 3, 2023.
When the Romanian language courses are over, the participants will obtain a certificate showing the linguistic competence in Romanian in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Applicants could register for the program during May 5-26, 2023.
