Over 600 students graduating from the Medicine and Pharmaceutics State University “Nicolae Testemițanu” (USMF) have taken the Hippocratic Oath at a ceremony today, vowing to care for patients regardless of their ethnicity, political affiliation or social status.

You have joined the ranks of a profession that requires great expertise and practical skills and total dedication, responsibility and sacrifice”, USMF Rector Ion Ababii said in his congratulatory speech.

The rector added that the earned diplomas enable the graduates to get a job or apply for postgraduate residencies in Moldova, or continue studies abroad, given that the USMF diplomas are recognized in most countries of the world. Still, Ababii encouraged the graduates to opt for consolidating the national healthcare system, “which we have a duty to make more sustainable, receptive, effective, and able to ensure equity and access of all our compatriots to high-standard care”.

Gheorghe Ghidirim, president of the Moldovan League of Healthcare Professionals, told the audience it’s important for them to realize that they graduated from one of the finest universities in the former Soviet Union and in Europe.

Cătălina Olaru, a Medical Faculty graduate, expressed her gratitude to the professors, praising them for being a model of demeanor and professionalism. She encouraged her colleagues to always remain receptive and sensitive with the patients, and rigorous and dedicated in doing their job.

Of the 632 graduates, 415 have been trained in medicine, 102 in dentistry, 89 in pharmaceutics, and 26 in preventive healthcare.
