More than 3,000 young people who study at 25 education institutions from five districts of the country will develop their professional and digital skills in the framework of the Joboteca pilot project to prepare young people for the labor market that was launched in Chisinau today. The goal of the project is to reduce the unemployment rate among the young people. 90% of the value of the project will be financed by the EU, IPN reports.

Magdalena Mueller-Uri, Head of the Operations Section of the EU Delegation to Moldova, said the unemployment rate among the young people is a problem not only for the Republic of Moldova, but also for other states. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the unemployment rate among people aged between 15 and 24 is three times higher than the unemployment rate among the general population, which is of about 4%.

Natalia Grâu, secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, said the young people need career guidance and they should know what special skills they need to develop. “We bank on the fact that the beneficiaries of the project will offer responses and solutions to us so that we could implement them at system level. “Joboteca” represents laboratories in which new ideas will be generated and in which the young people will have access to successful practices. The implementation of the pilot project in the Republic of Moldova will last for three years and will involve 150 teachers who will benefit from training,” stated Natalia Grâu.

Raluca Condruț, “Terre des Hommes” Romania program manager, said that “Joboteca” youth-friendly areas will be created at 25 education institutions. There will be financed 15 community initiatives that will help the young people to use labor opportunities, and promoted good practices by the local authorities, schools and other stakeholders. Partnerships for internship programs will be established with at least 12 companies. In 2022 and 2023, there will be conducted campaigns titled “Relay Race Day in the Republic of Moldova”.
