To ensure public access to family doctor services and their team, more than 284 primary healthcare providers have been contracted. Financial resources allocated under the 2025 Law on Mandatory Health Insurance Funds for this type of assistance exceed 3.4 billion lei, IPN reports.

During a press conference at the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), Nina Onofrei, Head of the Department for Contracting Healthcare Service Providers, announced that an additional 600 million lei has been allocated this year for services or paraclinical investigations such as laboratory tests or other services prescribed by family doctors. She emphasized that this allocation benefits every citizen registered with a family doctor, encouraging patients to visit their family doctor at least once a year for routine consultations or investigations.

More than 1.6 billion lei (10.4% of the core fund) have been allocated for outpatient care, meaning healthcare services without hospitalization. To utilize this amount, CNAM has signed contracts with over 120 providers, nearly half of whom offer dental care.

Nina Onofrei also highlighted that within outpatient care, over 200 million lei have been additionally allocated for paraclinical investigations, increasing access to necessary diagnostic tests. "As in previous years, dialysis services are covered. This year, we procured enough dialysis services to meet the needs of all dependent patients," she added.

In addition to specialist services provided at the outpatient level, over 15,000 radiotherapy services worth 9.6 million lei have been purchased from the Oncology Institute, as well as nearly 100,000 dialysis sessions valued at 211 million lei.

Ion Dodon, Director of the National Health Insurance Company, stated that over 1.2 billion lei has been allocated for reimbursing medications and medical devices. Currently, 171 international nonproprietary names of drugs, representing 1,300 commercial drug names, are reimbursed by CNAM for Moldova’s population, along with more than 50 types of medical devices.

The reimbursed medications cover a range of illnesses, with the most common being cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, and endocrine conditions. Reimbursed devices include needles, syringes, test strips, and lancets for people with diabetes. Blood glucose sensors will also be added to the list. Regarding medications, CNAM has received several applications for inclusion in the reimbursement list, Ion Dodon specified.
