More than 20 district heads and deputy heads and about 400 mayors said they support independent candidate for President Igor Dodon, who is backed by the Party of Socialists. In a press briefing, they said that Igor Dodon is the President who represents them and who did a lot for the country, IPN reports.
The head of Soroca district Veaceslav Rusnac said the heads of Briceni, Dondușeni, Drochia, Râșcani, Fălești, Florești, Ocnița and other northern districts give their support to Igor Dodon. “We manage villages and towns in the northern districts of the country. We represent the population of these regions that are inhabited by Moldovans, Ukrainians, Russians, Romanies, Jews and representatives of other ethnic groups. We now speak in the name of our citizens who represent different ethnic groups and who want to live well in a stable country in which the citizens respect each other, regardless of the spoken language,” state Veaceslav Rusnac. According to him, the agricultural producers in northern Moldova, who export fruit to the Russian market, are very concerned that if the President is replaced, the current benefits will not be preserved.
The head of Ungheni district Gennady Mitriuc said he came accompanied by his colleagues from Călărași, Anenii Noi, Rezina, Dubăsari to state their support for candidate Igor Dodon because he, as the President, did a lot for the country, supported a number of areas and pursued a balanced foreign policy.
The head of Cahul district Marcel Cenușa noted that he supports Igor Dodon alongside his mates from another seven districts situated in southern Moldova. “We are people of good faith and thus support independent candidate Igor Dodon. We call on all the bona fide people from the southern districts and from all over the country to vote for Igor Dodon,” stated Marcel Cenușa.
The head of Comrat district Ivan Topal said that he and the Bashkan of ATU Gagauzia Irina Vlah and also the mayors of Ceadîr-Lunga and Vulcănești throw support to Igor Dodon as he is a worthy candidate. He has known Igor Dodon for 15 years and convinced himself that he is a man of deeds who supports local initiatives.
