Over 15,000 runners at second Chisinau International Marathon

More than 15,000 people from 50 countries came together in the Great National Assembly Square to take part in the second Chisinau International Marathon that was held on April 17, IPN reports.

The organizers said the online registration for the marathon was closed on April 16 as the limits in the 42 km, 21 km and 10 km races were exceeded. The marathon was kicked off in the morning of April 17 and the column of runners spread on a distance of several hundred meters before living the start area.

Mihail Lobovski became the winner in the 10 km race. Maxim Raileanu medaled silver, while Mihai Bizniuc gold. The winners in the women’s race are: Olesea Soljenco; Ana Patranjel, and Ana Neno respectively.

Nicolae Gorbusca climbed on to the second step of the winner’s rostrum in the 21 km race. Ghenadii Tambalist won silver, while Dmitrii Nicolai - bronze. Natalia Clipca, Nataliei Zbarnea and Sofia Olsson are the winners of the women’s race.

Vitalie Gheorghita from Moldova became champion of the Chisinau International Marathon in the 42 km race. Olanda Marcin from Poland came in second, while Liviu Croitoru from Моldova finished third. The other finalists of the marathon are: Igor Tambalari – fourth 4; Clanton Styleer (U.S.) – fifth; Maxim Anfinov (Russia) – sixth.

In the women’s competition, the winners are: Nadejda Anfimova (Russia); Anastasia Averianova (Russia), and Anastasia Lungu (Moldova). The fourth position was taken by Alexandrei Kirilova (Ukraine), the fifth by Irina Matcovschi (Moldova), while the sixth by Edith Kees (Hungary).

The Chisinau International Marathon is an initiative by the nongovernmental organization Sporter.
