More than 140 children attend the ten day centers for children and families at risk, opened in 2023 by the Chisinau City Hall in partnership with UNICEF. Boys and girls aged between 7 and 18 and their families, including refugees, have access to specialized services and programs, which include personalized assistance, individual and group psychological counseling, as well as access to spaces equipped with teaching materials, robotic equipment, IPN reports.

The Chisinau City Hall said that this social service represents an opportunity for the reintegration and prevention of the separation of children at risk, with multiple benefits for local communities. The day care centers for children and families at risk provide a safe and favorable environment for the harmonious development of children through care, including therapeutic activities, such as music, sports and art.

The day centers for children and families at risk allow access to various social services, services for developing parental skills in raising and caring for children, informing the community and responsible institutions about the specific needs of children and families in difficult situations.

In order to attend one of the centers, the parent must submit an application to the General Division for the Protection of the Rights of the Child in the area where the family lives.

Since the launch of the centers in June 2023, 650 children, including refugees, have cumulatively benefited from this service.
