The National Resistance Movement ACUM, who will organize a protest rally on August 26, expect high attendance numbers. This is in part due to the fact that many Moldovan citizens who reside abroad plan to return home for the event. The information has been communicated by Vladimir Bolea, head of the Chișinău municipal organization of the Action and Solidarity Party, during “Moldova live” on 10TV, IPN reports.

According to him, the protest will issue several demands, most noteworthy being the petition to unconditionally validate the mandate of Chișinău municipality’s Mayor Elect Andrei Năstase, and cancellation of the mixed voting system. “We expect a lot of people, including citizens who work abroad, as many of them have vacations in August and come home,” says the politician. Meanwhile, Vladimir Bolea claims that he doesn’t know wether the governing officials will address any of the requested changes, as any of the changes desired by the protesters would be fatal to them.

The politician says that the supreme goal of all of the protesters is to make people aware that the true owners are the people. “We want them to understand that a right of theirs has been breached – a dictatorship has been set up in Moldova. And we aren’t talking about political battles anymore, we are talking about a dictatorship that has taken up residence indefinitely,” says Vladimir Bolea.

According to him, June 20 is the day when Moldova has officially shifted to a dictatorial regime. “If on the 26th, in the Union Square, there will be a lot of people who are aware that Moldova is a failed state, in which state institutions have stopped working and have become mere puppets, then we will reckon that these people want their rights back,” said Vladimir Bolea.
