The State Weather Service said the level of water in Moldova’s rivers remains low.  Therefore, yellow and orange alerts for low flow of water were issued for July 11-19, IPN reports.

The low flow is due to the lack of adequate precipitation and the high temperatures. This way, the yellow alert is valid for the Nistru, where the volume of water represents now 40-45% of the average multiannual values. The left branches of the Nistru are an exception.

The orange alert is valid for the Prut, where the volume of water represents now 20-25% of the average multiannual values, and for small rivers the figures for which range between 10% and 25% of the average multiannual values.

The business entities and the population are urged to reasonably consumer the water resources.

According to specialists of the State Weather Service, the lack of precipitation and high temperatures in June led to a decline in the productive moisture reserves in soil. This worsened the conditions for the growth and development of crops.
