The remnants of the 14th Army of the Russian Federation in eastern Moldova (alias Transnistria) are like a splinter in the sole of Ukraine, but don’t pose a military danger, deputy commander of the “Freedom of Russia” Legion Maximillian Andronnikov, with the call sign “Caesar”, stated in an interview with Dmitry Gordon, referring to the military incapacity of the self-proclaimed “republic” from the left bank of the Nistru.

The leader of the legionnaires who conduct raids against Russia from the territory of Ukraine was asked how Ukraine could obtain Maia Sandu’s request for Ukraine to liquidate “this 14th Army” and put an end to the problem that requires the presence of Ukrainian troops on the border with Moldova.

“The subject is not a simple political matter,” said the representative of the Russian insurgents, noting that the “danger” doesn’t attract significant forces. “There are about four battalions, as far as I know - woe to them. It’s a slum chatter (the danger from Transnistria)... They lost the opportunity to transport military personnel there. Of course, it’s unpleasant – it’s like a splinter in the sole. It hurts, it’s unpleasant and it keeps you hooked,” said the legionnaire.

Moreover, even if he believes that the Cobasna ammunition depot pose a certain danger and there “is something that would be good for us”, “Caesar” is sure that for now the political risks coming from Transnistria prevail over the military ones and must be taken into account first and foremost.
