The national youth team of Moldova did not manage to defeat Faeroe Islands’ squad away in the European Under-21 Championship 2011 qualifiers.
The team coached by Serghei Chirilov drew 1-1, failing to come closer to the leading Romania before the direct match set to take place in Craiova on September 8, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Moldova started the game more actively, opening the score through Eugen Sidorenco. But the hosts tied soon afterward through Kristoffur Jakobsen. In the second half of the game, the Moldovans tried to score the victory goal, but unsuccessfully. Moreover, Moldova ended the game with ten players on the field as Alexandru Grosu was eliminated in the 83rd minute.
