The one-time childbirth allowance will be 21,350 lei as of January 1, by 1,350 lei higher than at present. This is provided in a draft decision that was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.
According to the National House of Social Insurance’s estimates, approximately 33,000 children will benefit from this allowance in 2025.
Approximately 710 million lei was earmarked for paying this allowance in the draft state budget law for 2025.
The one-time childbirth allowance is granted for each child born alive provided that they are registered at the competent subdivision of the Public Services Agency.
The benefit is agreed annually by the Cabinet, in an amount equal to the monetary value of the minimum basket of goods needed when a child is born.
