The Tsipova based Monastery “Adormirea Maicii Domnului” (The Dormition of the Mother of God), one of the oldest and most important historical monuments of Moldova, risks to fall into ruin, if the rocks it is built on will not urgently undergo consolidation works. The chairman of the Foundation for Restoring the Monastery Igor Popov, announced that the monastery, composed of upper and lower hermitages, is in a very bad condition, unrestored since the middle of the last century. The main rock on which it is based is cracked and it is absolutely compulsory to consolidate it in order to preserve a priceless historical monument, Igor Popov mentioned. „The appeal was voiced previously by the abbot of the monastery, Policarp, but it wasn’t heard, that is why I created this Foundation so that believers could donate money voluntarily for preserving the historical monument, one of the oldest Christian buildings,” Igor Popov underlined. According to him, the name of every donor will be mentioned in the monks’ prays, and a plate with the name of the donors will be installed in the monastery. The Foundation’s bank account is the following: BC Mobiasbanca SA subsidiary no. 9 „Centru, МФО MOBBMD22749 p/c 22510004987777 c/f 41535019, phone 578-679.
