One of the two brothers who was arrested after the murder of a seven-year-old girl in Recea village of Râșcani district was released. The information was confirmed for IPN by the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu. This is the older brother who wasn’t at the place when the crime was committed.
Viorel Cernăuțeanu said the police took the necessary measures to identify the persons involved in the commission of the crime. Two brothers aged 21 and 33 were arrested initially. Following investigations and questioning and the examination of videos from surveillance cameras, it was determined that the older brother was elsewhere when the murder was committed.
A number of examinations will be conducted, including a mental status one in the case of the younger brother, who is to be remanded in custody.
The mayor of Recea Valerii Gelan has told IPN that the two brothers are from a complete family with four children. The parents and the two sisters of the young men are now outside the country. The brothers also worked abroad and returned home this summer. Even if he lives on the same street as the suspect does, the mayor said that he didn’t see him often.
The mayor’s office is considering the possibility of offering assistance to the girl’s family. A number of locals already expressed their readiness to cover a part of the costs associated with the funeral.
The seven-year-old girl on Monday went to play in the neighborhood and didn’t return. The family looked for her, but all in vain and towards evening went to the police. The searches lasted throughout the night and involved the use of drones and search dogs. The body was found in a deserted house in the village on Tuesday afternoon. Presumably, the girl went to the suspect’s house that is situated not far from the house of the girl’s family. Locals said the older brother was kind to the girl and gave her candies. That day he wasn’t at home. The younger brother, who is reportedly addicted to video games, was bothered by the child’s visit. The girl was found strangled.
