As many as 3,088 people working without an employment contract have been identified since the beginning of 2024. The State Labor Inspectorate carried out inspections at 2,299 enterprises, of which 741 enterprises (32.2%) were found to be working illegally, IPN reports.

The authorities emphasize the need to continue efforts to ensure compliance with labor legislation and the protection of employees' rights.

"In 2025, we should identify even more people who need to be legally hired and give them the chance to be officially employed and receive full social protection, with all the benefits, in accordance with the law," said Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu, quoted in a press release.

To combat the phenomenon of undeclared work, a monitoring campaign was launched in November 2023. The main areas under inspection are: commerce/hospitality industry; construction sector; private education institutions, agriculture, transport, etc.
