A unique one-day exhibition titled “Focus on Today” invites art lovers to visit the workshop of master Mihai Țăruș situated at 7/2 Dimo St in Chisinau. According to the artist, the dialogue with the cultural sphere is minimalist and this artistic experiment is aimed at arousing curiosity and establishing a dialogue between the artist, arts and the focus on authenticity, IPN reports.

Today, the painters need lees artistic dialogue, primarily in the public space, said Mihai Țăruș. “Even if the focus is on today, communication is complemented by the virtual sphere. Today one does not need to travel to Venice to see the Biennial as this can be seen remotely. But this fact has other consequences and I refer here to communication that is absent in the physical space of culture. The exhibition in my workshop is a method of trying to take art lovers out of their comfort zone and of inviting them to my workshop where there will be my works and the artistic dialogue,” stated the artist, noting that the focus is very important when we look at a fixed image or take an extensive look.

Romanian artist Cornel Radu Constantinescu said Mihai Țăruș is a nonconformist painter. “He adopts the behavior of a scientist preoccupied with the finesse of strictly plastic analyses that narrow the angle of common understanding. The transfer of vision in time is another practice he uses. The attempt is venturesome as time cannot be illustrated,” said Cornel Radu Constantinescu, adding the static effect implies mental mechanics that make time distinguishable.

Plastic artist Mihai Țăruș was born on December 10, 1948 in Sinești commune of Ungheni district. While forming as an artist, he thoroughly studied a number of techniques and laid emphasis on form as an imminent state of disintegration of anything. He detached himself from conception – manifestation, preferring new abstract and nonfigurative plastic experiences in creation. He published articles on the theme in Moldova and abroad. His ideas can be found in the album “Self-Portrait-Journal” issued by the Arc publishing house in 2021.
