Three men have been detained by police on suspicion of committing a theft from an office in the Buiucani sector of the capital, IPN reports.
The theft was discovered by the director of the business, who earlier this week noticed that 1 500 000 lei had disappeared from the safe. The report was immediately filed with the competent authorities and, following investigations by law enforcement officers, the suspects were identified.
During the searches, the tools used to break into the office were found in one of their cars.
The three men, aged 24, 59 and 61, were remanded in custody for 30 days. If found guilty, the suspects face a prison sentence of between 5 and 10 years.
Police are continuing investigations into their possible involvement in other crimes.
