IPN Agency reacted to the concerns expressed by Moldovan society, which fears that the day of May 9 may be used by different circles of interest as a pretext for particular kinds of provocations and for causing destabilization in Moldova. The concerns seem sufficiently justified in the context of the profound regional crisis that affects Moldova too. The given mini-series will present the opinions of representatives of central and local public authorities, of political parties and analysts and the measures by which the possible provocations can be prevented or annihilated.

Marin Maxian, head of the Pubic Security Division of the General Police Inspectorate, has told IPN that provocations are expected every time there are planned mass events. The police cannot ignore the relevant reports. Therefore, the police force is mobilized every time events are scheduled to take place in the municipality of Chisinau and on the country’s territory, if necessary, so as to maintain public order, ensure the rule of law and prevent situations that can generate particular incidents.

“Any such report will be examined by the police, while those who allow such cases to happen will be held accountable. For public order to be maintained, the number of police officers on duty will be increased depending on the number of demonstrations and other events that will take place on May 9. The risk of conflicts will be assessed in each case apart,” said Marin Maxian.

He added that the police take into account any related information made public and will thus work under an alert regime.
