The European Political Community Summit that will bring together about 50 heads of state and government of the European Union will take place in Bulboaca village of Anenii Noi district. President Maia Sandu said that on June 1 the Republic of Moldova will become the center of Europe.
“Moldova is increasingly respected in the world and is treated as an equal partner. The historic event that will be held in our country on June 1 places Moldova at the discussion table of the European states – a place that our citizens gained based on merit. On June 1, our country will host the European Political Community Summit. This is a symbolic moment that represents both international recognition for our country and also huge responsibility,” President Sandu told a news conference.
The European Political Community was founded last year for the European leaders to discuss the most pressing problems witnessed in Europe, related to energy resilience, security and stability. “On June 1, at the Castel Mimi Winery, our country will have the honor to host for the first time approximately 50 heads of state and government and officials of the European Union. We will debate vital issues related to war and peace, to Europe’s future, to the future of the 750 million people who work on the European continent, which is also the future of the Republic of Moldova as a European state that firmly chose to follow the road to the EU. We work to achieve this objective,” noted Maia Sandu.
The official also said that the Summit scheduled for June 1 has a major significance, being an opportunity to strengthen the ties between the Republic of Moldova and the European countries and with the free world. It is a message that Moldova is not alone. “This event is important also for the European course of the Republic of Moldova. The leaders of the member states will come here and they will get to know us better. For us, it is an occasion of showing that we are a peaceful, hardworking and dignified nation, aligned to the European values,” said President Sandu, noting that the success of the Summit depends on everyone’s contribution.
“Moldova will become the center of Europe on June 1. Let us all become involved to show that the Republic of Moldova is a democratic, strong, responsible state committed to the European integration because Moldova is a beautiful country and the European Union will be richer with Moldova as part of it. We will say these things clearly also at the “European Moldova” Assembly set for May 21, when all the citizens who will come together in the Great National Assembly Square will show their support for the European path chosen by our country and for the European future of our children. We will say these things firmly and confidently on June 1 to all the Presidents, Prime Ministers who will be present in our country,” stated Maia Sandu.
According to the official, the Summit is organized with state budget funds. A part of the costs will be covered by the Council of the European Union.
